Southern Water has apologised after a burst pipe left properties in Falmer with little or no water

A burst pipe has left people living in part of East Sussex with little or no water.

Southern Water said about 900 customers in Falmer were experiencing low pressure or no water on Sunday due to a pipe burst off the A27.

The water company has apologised to people.

Brighton & Hove Albion, who were hosting Liverpool at the Amex Stadium in Falmer, said no water issues had been reported at the ground.

"We're sorry if you are experiencing low pressure or no water this morning in the Falmer area," a Southern Water spokesperson said.

"The good news is that it won't affect the football as the Amex Stadium is in supply. We're using tankers to directly inject water into the main, which will put customers back in supply.

"We will wait until after the game to start making repairs as there is likely to be traffic management while we do that."

Vulnerable residents in the area are urged to contact Southern Water to be added to its priority service register for bottled water deliveries.

The water supply issues in Falmer follow a 10-day outage for about 4,900 Southern Water customers in Rye, Winchelsea and Camber.
