A man and a 15-year-old boy have been arrested after an elderly man was taken to hospital with a serious head injury.

Police were alerted by doctors at Worthing Hospital after the 74-year-old man was admitted.

An assault is believed to have taken place between at between18:00 BST and 19:00 on Friday in High Street, Littlehampton, Sussex Police said.

Two people have been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent - a 21-year-old man and the teenage boy.

Investigations supervisor Perry Humphreys said: "Our inquiries suggest there were a lot of people in the High Street around the time of this assault who may have seen something that would assist our investigation.

"I would urge anybody with information to please get in touch."
