Israel-Gaza attacks: Police increase visibility across Sussex
- Published
Police visibility has increased across Sussex in response to concerns over the Israel-Gaza conflict.
Officers are reviewing footage from a protest held in Brighton on Sunday, Sussex Police said.
A spokeswoman for the force said police recognised there was a potential for increased tensions and were working to ensure people felt safe.
The death toll in Israel has reached 1,200, with more than 900 people killed by Israeli air strikes on Gaza.
Protests and vigils have been held in Brighton and Hove since the Hamas attacks at the weekend.
The move to increase police visibility in Sussex was "to provide an increased presence and reassurance to our communities", the spokeswoman said.
She said: "We are continuing to work with synagogues, mosques and businesses to discuss any concerns."
Anyone who experiences threatening behaviour or is worried about their safety has been urged to contact the police.
