A trial date has been set for a police officer accused of causing death by dangerous driving after a man was struck by a police car and died.

Arthur Hölscher-Ermert, 27, was hit by a Sussex Police car on the A259 in Peacehaven on 30 April 2022.

PC Christopher Corker, 40, of Shandon Road, Worthing, appeared at the Old Bailey in London earlier.

Judge Richard Marks KC adjourned the plea hearing and set a trial of up to three weeks from 5 August.

PC Corker spoke to confirm his name and date of birth but was not asked to enter pleas.

He is facing charges of causing death by dangerous driving and causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving.

The Sussex Police officer was granted continued unconditional bail, and will return to court for his plea hearing on 10 May.
