Middlesbrough's Transporter Bridge shuts for repairs
- Published
Middlesbrough's Transporter Bridge will be closed for several weeks to allow for essential repair work.
During an inspection of the rail tracks on the bridge's upper booms, maintenance staff discovered cracks in four locations.
The bridge has been closed and will remain out of operation until the rails have been replaced.
From Wednesday, a free bus service will operate from the Transporter to Port Clarence during the closure.
Middlesbrough Council said it apologised for any inconvenience caused.
