A man has been charged with murder after a 59-year-old died in a street in Hartlepool last year.

Mark Davison from Easington was pronounced dead at the scene at the junction of York Road and Gainford Street in May 2022.

Cleveland Police said they had charged a man, 47, who will appear at Teesside Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.

A 46-year-old woman who was previously arrested on suspicion of murder has been released with no further action.

At the time, Mr Davison's family said he had been a "larger than life character" who was "taken too soon".

"Mark was a much-loved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who will be dearly missed," they said.
