A689 crash: Man, 24, dies after car hits railings in Hartlepool

A man has died and another has been arrested after a crash in Hartlepool.
It happened on the A689 Stockton Road, near to The Traveller's Rest pub, at about 22:15 GMT on Friday.
The 24-year-old who died had been travelling westbound in a dark blue Audi S3 when it hit railings, Cleveland Police said.
A 22-year-old man who was driving a blue VW Golf has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
The road was closed for several hours while an investigation was carried out, and police have appealed for witnesses to contact them.
