BBC Sports Unsung Hero winner inspires others through rowing

Kate O’Sullivan has been crowned BBC Sports Personality of the Year Unsung Hero winner for the North East and Cumbria.

She founded the Infinity Project, which aims to encourage social inclusion through rowing.

When local kids began to make life difficult for the club, she engaged with them to give the sport a try.

Kate can be mostly be found on the river at Tees Rowing Club in all weathers, coaching people from all walks of life.

She says she takes huge pride from her crews of new rowers, which include asylum seekers and people with neurodiversities.
