Police have widened the search for a missing 20-year-old woman to a village in the North York Moors.

Annie Dryden was last seen leaving a train in Battersby at about 14:40 GMT on 4 January after travelling from Middlesbrough's James Cook station.

Cleveland Police officers remain "very concerned" about her safety.

Detectives are searching the village of Castleton and urged people to check outbuildings and sheds for signs of anyone having been there.

Ms Dryden, from Middlesbrough, is described as 5ft 10in (1.78m) tall, slim and dark-haired, with a distinctive blonde fringe and a scar above her top lip.

In CCTV images captured on the day she went missing, she was carrying a green and black backpack.

Cleveland Police said it was working with colleagues in the North Yorkshire force and following up information provided by the public.

Det Ch Insp Fionna McEwan, said: "While Annie is very familiar with the outdoors and wild camping, she has now been missing for nearly two weeks and we remain very concerned for her safety.

"If she is still outside, she is likely to be wet and muddy and in need of supplies.

"We also appeal direct to Annie that if she sees or hears this appeal please get in touch with your friends, family or the police and let us know that you are safe.

"If you prefer not to speak to us, you can let the missing people charity know by calling 116000 and they will pass on a message."
