Resurfacing work costing £1.6m is to be carried out on a section of the A1 in Northumberland.

The Highways Agency is carrying out work between Alnwick South Interchange and Denwick Interchange.

Investigations found the road surface in the area had deteriorated and was showing signs of erosion and potholing, the agency said.

The work will start on Tuesday and continue until 16 May. Motorists are advised to plan ahead to avoid delays.
