Teenager charged with male rape in Newcastle

A teenager has been charged with the rape of a man on Tyneside.

A 24-year-old man was attacked in a grassed area near Skinnerburn Road, directly under the Redheugh Bridge, in Newcastle early on 30 June.

Northumbria Police described it as a "horrific ordeal" for the victim.

Officers have charged a 16-year-old boy with rape and robbery and he will appear before North Tyneside Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
