A Durham college is to undergo a £10m expansion programme so it can accommodate more courses and students.
Education chiefs said they also wanted East Durham College's Houghall campus to have more "working environments" including an animal care centre.
Work will also include dog kennels and an aviary as well as new classrooms and a new reception area.
Funding for the project was awarded to the college by the North East Local Enterprise Partnership.
The work is expected to take 12 months.
