Peterlee solar farm plans approved by Durham Council

The solar panel farm in Peterlee was recommended for approval in December

A 20,000 panel solar farm planned for a site in Peterlee has been approved by Durham County Council.

The application to generate electricity at Mill Hill was approved by the County Planning Committee on Tuesday, external.

The application only received one objection, from the Campaign to Protect Rural England, external (CPRE), the council said.

The farm will have a 30-year lifespan and the minimum potential CO2 saving is claimed to be about 59,540 tonnes.
