Arrest after two hurt in Wallsend 'hit and run'

A man has been arrested after two pedestrians were struck by a car which then left the scene.
Emergency services were called to North View in Wallsend, and the two men were taken to hospital suffering serious injuries.
Northumbria Police later arrested a 48-year-old man on suspicion of wounding with intent to commit serious grievous bodily harm.
Witnesses to the incident at 12:35 GMT are asked to contact the force.
