South Shields quadriplegic surfer hopes to become champion
Meet Jimmy Simpson - a surfer with quadriplegic cerebral palsy who has set his sights on becoming a champion.
The 24-year-old said he "never thought he'd be surfing", but it has been made possible thanks to an adapted surfboard and the help of South Shields Surf School.
"When I'm out on the water surfing I feel like I don't have a disability...it makes me feel free," he said.
In all conditions he is braving the North Sea as he embarks on a gruelling several months of training ahead of the English Adaptive Surfing Championship in September.
