County Durham RAF veteran walks 95 laps for 95th birthday

An RAF veteran has walked 95 times around a primary school field to raise money for charity for his 95th birthday.

Cpl Donald Elsom, from Annfield Plain, County Durham, took on the challenge to help raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

He started doing the laps at Catchgate Primary School last September and finished his final lap on 13 March - one day before his 95th birthday.

Diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2012, his challenge raised more than £3,000 in donations.
