Wiltshire street lights to be switched off

Street lights across Wiltshire will be switched off for part of the night to save money, it has been announced.
A Wiltshire Council spokesman said about 400 lights would be switched off between 0000 GMT and 0600 GMT, starting in the summer.
The Conservative-controlled authority said the move would save more than £9,400 a year at the current electricity price.
It could mean savings of over £300,000 during the next 25 years, he added.
The spokesman said the move would apply to roads where there are generally no properties or junctions.
Village lights will also be converted to operate for part of the night, he added.
The affected lights are on the A3102 Greenacres Way, Calne; A350 West Cepen Way, A4 Pewsham Way and the A4 Avenue La Fleche in Chippenham; A4 Corsham to Box; A361 Caen Hill; A361 London Road, Devizes; A350 Western Way, Melksham; A4 Pewsham; A338 Churchill Way South and New Bridge Road in Salisbury; A361 Hilperton Drive, Trowbridge.
