Swindon fan to visit 92 football league clubs in eight days

A football fan from Wiltshire is set to visit all 92 football league clubs in England in eight days for charity.

John Dalley, 44, from Rowde near Devizes, hopes to complete the 2,000-mile trip on his 29-year-old motorbike.

The ride is to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Rowde Football Club, founded by Mr Dalley, and to raise money for three charities.

Mr Dalley said that as an ardent Swindon Town Fan he had already visited a lot of the grounds in the country.

Setting off from Wiltshire earlier, the motorbike tour of all 92 football league clubs is expected to finish at Swindon Town's county ground on 18 August.

On the way, Mr Dalley is hoping to collect club memorabilia for an auction in support of Dorothy House Hospice Care, Wiltshire Air Ambulance Appeal and Youth Action Wiltshire.

"I've emailed every club and had a bit of a response from some but none of the big boys," he said.

"But it's something I've been thinking about for quite a while and being a Swindon Town fan you sort of get to go to most football grounds, so I'll find my way."

Other people have previously visited all the league clubs, including football fan Tom Dickinson who visited all the clubs to sample their pies in 2009.
