A new path has opened at a park in Swindon which will offer better access to a museum celebrating a Victorian author.

Enthusiasts had campaigned for nearly 30 years for a more direct walkway to the Richard Jefferies Museum in Coate Water park.

The nature writer was born at Coate in 1848.

Chairman of the Richard Jefferies Society, John Price said the path will be a "great asset".

He added: "We've been trying to get something like this done for nearly 30 years now."
