Shropshire man, 73, killed in two-car collision on A303 near Mere

A 73-year-old man from Shropshire has been killed in a car crash in Wiltshire.

Emergency services were called to the A303, near Mere, on Saturday afternoon following reports of the accident.

Wiltshire Police said a Honda CRV travelling west was in collision with a Peugeot 307 travelling east.

The Peugeot driver, a woman aged 72 from the Oswestry area, was seriously injured. A male passenger, believed to be her husband, died at the scene.

The 50-year-old female driver of the Honda received severe bruising but did not need hospital treatment.

Her teenage passengers, aged 16 and 18, were treated for leg and back injuries at Salisbury District Hospital but these are not believed to be life threatening.

Anyone who witnessed the accident which happened on at 15:40 BST on Chadenwick Hill, is asked to contact police.
