Fovant hillside badges: Audio slideshow of WW1 soldier memorials
- Published
Giant army crests carved into a chalk hillside in Wiltshire were originally the work of World War One soldiers stationed at a nearby camp.
At one time there were as many as 20, but eight have been restored after a fundraising campaign by a local group.
The Fovant Badges Society will now maintain the crests, which were scheduled as ancient monuments in 2001.
In this audio slideshow, Richard Bullard and Margaret McKenzie from the society tell the story of the memorials.
