Wiltshire's Police and Crime Commissioner, Angus Macpherson, has been moved out of intensive care following a heart attack.

The 60-year-old was taken to Bath's Royal United Hospital by air ambulance after being taken ill in Trowbridge on Friday morning.

His condition has improved and he is now out of the intensive therapy unit and making his recovery on a ward.

A spokesman from his office said he was "continuing to improve steadily".

"He is sitting up in his bed on the ward, talking to his family," he added.

The commissioner became ill during a meeting to discuss his annual report with local MP Dr Andrew Murrison at his constituency offices on the White Horse Business Park.
