An historic steam locomotive has arrived home in Swindon to be showcased in next year's celebrations to mark the town's link with the railways.

King George the Fifth was built in Swindon and will be loaned for display at the town's STEAM museum later this month.

Next year marks the 175th anniversary of when Swindon was chosen as the site for Great Western Railway works.

The locomotive was taken by road and rail from York National Railway Museum.

Another locomotive, The City of Truro, is due to arrive in Swindon tomorrow.

The STEAM museum reopens to visitors on 21 November when both locomotives will be on display.
