A man has been seriously injured in a crash during a pursuit which has sparked a probe by the police watchdog.

The A419 was closed northbound between Cricklade and South Cerney following the crash at 02:30 GMT. It reopened more than 12 hours later.

Police said the male driver, 30, had been taken to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford with serious injuries.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) said it was called due to "contact prior to the collision".

The IOPC said the crash involved a VW Golf and a lorry.

Witnesses to the crash have been asked to come forward.
