Swindon man charged with firearms offence and blackmail

A person has been charged with a firearms offence after police were called to reports of an armed man.

Officers and the police helicopter were deployed to the incident at Burns Way in Upper Stratton, Swindon, at about 08:40 BST on Friday.

Wiltshire Police said Dean Snarey, 42, been charged with possession of a firearm while committing a schedule one offence and blackmail.

He is due to appear at Swindon Magistrates' Court later.
