Swindon arrest after M4 driver pictured speeding at 180mph

A man has been arrested after images were shared on social media of a vehicle driving at 180mph on the M4 on Boxing Day.

A 30-year-old from Eastleaze in Swindon was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving on Thursday night.

He was taken into custody for questioning and remained there on Friday morning.

The incident is believed to have happened after a car meet in Chippenham, in Wiltshire.

Sergeant Ben Cox from Wiltshire Police said: "It goes without saying that these kinds of speeds are absolutely ridiculous and this behaviour will not be tolerated.

"A number of members of the public contacted us who witnessed this behaviour on the M4 - if you have any information which could assist please get in touch."
