Man in his 20s charged following Swindon stabbing

Police have charged a man following a stabbing in Swindon town centre on Sunday night.

A man in his 20s has been charged following a stabbing in a town centre.

Timothy Ryan, 24, of no fixed abode, has been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of a bladed article in a public place.

Ryan has been remanded in custody and was due to appear at Swindon Magistrates' Court earlier.

Wiltshire Police said the incident happened near Spring Gardens in the centre of Swindon on Sunday at about 21.00 GMT.

The victim, a man in his 50s, was taken to hospital for treatment but has since been able to return home.

Police have asked for anyone who was in the area and may have witnessed the attack to contact them.
