A large stretch of a key road that was closed over the weekend due to flooding from a burst water main, has reopened.

Mead Way, near The Meads Roundabout in Swindon, had been closed since early on Friday morning.

It remained shut for three days before the section of Mead Way, towards Bridgemead, reopened on Monday.

Drivers were asked to avoid the area while repairs took place and Thames Water has apologised for the disruption.

Great Western Way was also closed on Friday between Mannington Roundabout and the Bruce Street Bridges, towards the town centre, due to the flooding, but reopened later that day.

In a separate incident, Thames Water said it had also been carrying out repairs to a leak on a water main in Wootton Bassett Road since Sunday.
