Redevelopment plans at the petrol station have been withdrawn

Plans for the redevelopment of a petrol station, including adding a new restaurant, have been withdrawn.

Motor Fuel Group Ltd, applied for permission to carry out the work at the Esso Petrol station on Fleming Way, just off the Magic Roundabout.

But Swindon Borough Council's highways officer recommended that the proposal be refused and there were also complaints from nearby residents.

One said "most late nights it is rowdy at the petrol station".

The proposals included a larger canopy over petrol pumps, the removal of a hand car wash and the creation of a bigger shop, with a restaurant, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.

A council highways officer said: "I recommend this application be refused because proposed development does not satisfactorily demonstrate adequate accommodation for vehicle manoeuvring, parking and servicing proportionate to the scale of development."
