Police in Wiltshire are appealing for witnesses after a suspected arson at a derelict cottage.

Fire crews were called to Wood Lane, Chippenham, at approximately 16:00 BST on 3 April following reports that smoke was coming from the building.

The crew established that the fire was started deliberately in a first floor room of the property and had caused significant damage.

Wiltshire Police said there had been multiple fires at the address.

The force added that only the fire in the first floor room had spread and caused extensive damage.

A group of youths were seen by local residents climbing over a low wall to access the property around the time of the incident and using scaffolding to climb through a first floor window.

Officers say they are are keen to identify these individuals and are appealing for anyone with information to get in touch.
