Tesco fuel mix-up strands motorists in North Yorkshire

A mix-up in fuel supplies at a petrol station in North Yorkshire left some motorists stranded.
The problem was caused when a tanker driver mistakenly put diesel into a forecourt petrol tank at Tesco's near Catterick Garrison.
Up to 25 motorists are thought to have been affected. The supermarket chain has offered to pay for any repairs.
The AA said it was the second time in a month a supermarket filling station had got fuel mixed up.
A similar error by a tanker driver at a Sainsbury store in Salford, Greater Manchester, affected 44 cars and caused an estimated £14,000 damage.
'Very irritating'
Amongst the motorists affected by the problem in North Yorkshire was a bride on the way to her wedding.
Her fiance Robert Duncan said: "She was late to the wedding. I am thinking, 'She isn't coming' but it was the car that kept cutting out.
"Obviously she didn't know the fuel was contaminated."
A Tesco spokesman said: "There has been an isolated incident where a small number of customers received the wrong fuel when filling up at our store.
"We are in contact with customers affected to apologise and arrange any necessary repairs to their vehicles."
Luke Bosdet from the AA said: "It seems to be happening more often than we'd expect.
"It's very irritating to find that your car has conked out and it does take time to drain the tank."
