NASA award for space 'stuff' created in North Yorkshire shed

NASA has given North Yorkshire company Peratech an award for a material used to make the fingers of a robot sent into space.

David Lussey, of Peratech, created Quantum Tunnelling Composite (QTC) in his shed.

He said: "It can tell how hard the robot is grasping things... If it wants to pick up an egg that grip would have to be very slight, but if it wants to pick up a large spanner to do some work then it's a different sort of grip."
