The death of a man in York is not being treated as suspicious, police have said.

A 20-year-old local man's body was pulled from the River Foss in the city on Wednesday night.

Underwater searches were carried out after a member of the public reported seeing a man in the water near Merchant Hall in the Piccadilly area.

Police said they were not in a position to identify the man until his family were informed of his death.
