Katie Rough death: Inquest opened and adjourned

An inquest has opened into the death of seven-year-old Katie Rough, who was found fatally injured near a playing field in York.
Katie was found by police in the Woodthorpe area of the city on 9 January. She died a short time later in hospital.
A 15-year-old girl - who cannot be named for legal reasons - has been charged with her murder.
The teenager has also been charged with possession of an offensive weapon.
The York Coroner's Court inquest was adjourned pending the outcome of court proceedings.

Katie was a pupil at Westfield Primary School. Head teacher Tracey Ralph described her as a "kind and thoughtful child".
