Richard Sunter died in a crash on the A65 near Ingleton

The family of a man killed in a crash have paid tribute to a "much loved" son, brother and friend.

Richard Sunter, 39, died after his Ford Ranger was in a collision with a lorry on the A65 near Ingleton on 7 October.

North Yorkshire Police said the lorry driver, a man in his 40s, was arrested in connection with the crash.

The family of Mr Sunter, a wagon driver from Horton in Ribblesdale, said his death had left "a huge void" in their lives.

In a statement issued via North Yorkshire Police, they said: "Richard was a wonderful, much loved son, brother and uncle, but was also our friend.

"He was loyal and strong, and always there to help any of us."

Two of his friends said Mr Sunter had helped shape their lives, adding: "[We] owe him so much."

According to his family, the former Newton Rigg College student, who had developed an interest in farming, had been on his way to buy a tup at the time of the crash.
