Police want to trace a dog and its owner after a woman had her finger bitten off by the animal.
The dog, thought to be a black Labrador, attacked the 64-year-old in a wooded area of Colburn, near Catterick, North Yorkshire, on 29 September.
The victim's dog suffered a punctured intestine in the incident, police said.
Officers have asked anyone with information about a bearded man seen walking two black dogs at the time of the incident, to get in touch.
North Yorkshire Police said the man was wearing light-coloured clothing and is described as white, in his early 30's, with an athletic build.
He was walking the animals near to Goodwood Avenue, police said.
A spokesperson said the dog that attacked the woman and her pet was thought to be called Acer or Aver.
