Ex-Whitby PCSO admits misuse of police computer
- Published
A North Yorkshire Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) has pleaded guilty to conducting unauthorised searches of police computer systems.
Whitby-based Daisy Pennock, 26, admitted seven charges under the Computer Misuse Act at York Magistrates' Court on Thursday.
She was charged following an investigation by the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
Pennock, who has resigned from her job, will be sentenced on 11 December.
The former PCSO accessed the police computer while working at Whitby Police Station after recognising the name of someone who had been arrested, the court heard.
She then informed a relative about the arrested individual and returned to the case file on further occasions.
The court heard there was no suggestion she had attempted to interfere in the investigation.
Pennock was released on bail ahead of her next appearance at Scarborough Magistrates' Court.
