Scarborough police ride double-decker buses to spot drivers on phones

Police have been riding on the top deck of buses to spot drivers using their mobile phones.
Officers in Scarborough in North Yorkshire were able to identify people who may have been breaking the law and posing a danger to other motorists.
The information was passed to police in patrol cars, who stopped the drivers.
PC Zac Waterman, of North Yorkshire Police, said working on double-deckers gave officers "a great vantage point to view these dangerous motorists".
The new road safety operation, named Op Deck, was launched on Sunday and the force said "multiple tickets" were issued as a result.
PC Waterman said: "We have listened to the local community and businesses who regularly make complaints of motorists using their mobile phones while driving.
"The drivers admitted to the offence due to the quality of evidence, thanks to the positioning on the bus."
PCSOs were riding on buses run by local company East Yorkshire Motor Services and the force said "more days of action will be staged soon".
