A man who called 999 to report himself for drink-driving has been charged.
North Yorkshire Police said they received a call shortly before noon on Monday from a driver in Knaresborough.
The man, in his 50s and from Rochdale, told police he was "drink-driving and doesn't know what he is doing" and that he had had a "heavy weekend".
The driver, who officers said was three times over the alcohol limit, was charged with drink-driving and was due before magistrates on 29 February.
He was bailed until his court appearance, the force said.
