Malton: Man charged with murder after woman pulled from river

A man has been charged with murder after a woman was pulled from a river in North Yorkshire.
Police were called to the River Derwent in Malton at 23:40 BST on Wednesday, with officers assisting in getting the woman out of the water.
The woman, who North Yorkshire Police named as 49-year-old Lisa Welford, from Malton, later died in hospital.
A 47-year-old man from Malton has since been charged, the force said, and is due to appear in court on Monday.
Det Ch Insp Shaun Page said: "Our thoughts are with Lisa's family and friends at this very sad time.
"We understand the disruption and distress it has caused locally and I want to thank the community for their patience and support."
