Housing Executive staff repeatedly raised concerns about work carried out by Red Sky

A NI Housing Executive investigation into the activities of Red Sky, one of its main contractors, has concluded.

The probe was ordered after a three-year BBC investigation revealed that NIHE staff repeatedly raised concerns about the company's standards of work.

Staff concerns were primarily about work carried out by Red Sky in west Belfast.

The Housing Executive has passed the report to Red Sky and is awaiting a response.

Although Red Sky has acknowledged there had been some problems with one of its contracts in west Belfast, it emphatically denied any allegations of sub-standard work or financial irregularities.

Its understood the performance of some other contractors at the Executive is also being examined.

A separate inquiry into how the executive awards and enforces contracts worth millions of pounds has also concluded.

In spite of finding good governance structures and much evidence of good practice, the report made 76 recommendations covering such things as human resources and asset disposal.

It concluded that governance around contract management was poor.
