Kate Middleton chose a classic trench coat

Kate Middleton chose a British luxury brand coat for her Belfast engagements on Tuesday.

The classic Burberry trench coat had the standard double row of buttons and buckled belt, but featured a flared hemline.

A spokeswoman for Burberry said the brand was "very pleased" Miss Middleton had chosen it, but gave no further details about the style.

Miss Middleton wore black heels and carried a black clutch bag.

Her look, with her hair worn down as usual, was very similar to her two previous public engagements - a warm coat teamed with black tights and accessories.

Clarence House said it had no details about the outfit.

The royal bride-to-be appears to be favouring British designers for her public engagements.

She wore a tailored Shetland herringbone coat by Katherine Hooker London for her first public engagement - an RNLI lifeboat-naming ceremony in Anglesey - teamed with a beret by Wiltshire-based Vivien Sheriff Millinery.

It is not known if she selected Tuesday's coat especially for the occasion or if it was already part of her wardrobe.

She had previously been photographed wearing her Katherine Hooker coat at the 2006 Cheltenham Gold Cup.
