Justin Bieber's girlfiend Selena Gomez to host MTV awards in Belfast

Selena Gomez will host the MTV Europe music awards in Belfast in November

Selena Gomez has been confirmed as host for the MTV Europe music awards at Belfast's Odyssey Arena on 6 November.

Ms Gomez, 19, the girlfriend of teenage Canadian pop star Justin Bieber, found fame as the star of the Disney show 'Wizards of Waverly Place'.

The actress and singer is an ambassador for the global children's charity Unicef.

Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Bruno Mars and Adele are among the acts nominated for the MTV awards.

Ms Gomez said it was "a dream come true" to be hosting the event which is coming to Northern Ireland for the first time.

MTV said that as well as presenting on stage she would be "juggling several duties" to engage with music fans, "from checking Twitter to sharing behind-the-scenes gossip".
