Stephen Carroll's widow 'disgusted' at sentence

Kate Carroll, the widow of Constable Stephen Carroll who was was shot dead in Craigavon in 2009, has criticised the sentence given to one of her husband's killers.

Brendan McConville, 40, of Glenholme Avenue, Craigavon, and John Paul Wootton, 21, of Collindale, Lurgan, were found guilty his murder in March.

Wootton, who was 17 at the time of the murder, will serve a minimum of 14 years before being considered for parole.

McConville, a former Sinn Fein councillor, will serve a minimum of 25 years.

Speaking outside the court following sentencing, Constable Carroll's widow, Kate, said Wootton's sentence was "disgusting".
