Danny Moore will take responsibility for the global operations of Options

Belfast entrepreneur Danny Moore has been appointed chief operating officer of a London-based financial IT firm.

He will be responsible for running the day-to-day global operations of Options, which provides services to banks, traders and exchanges.

He built the Belfast-based firm Wombat which was sold to the New York Stock Exchange in 2008.

In 2010 he established an investment firm, Lough Shore, which invests in start-up companies.

His most high profile investment was in the film The Shore which won an Oscar for best live action short.

He said he was looking forward to leading the growth of the company is Europe, the US and Asia.

He added: "Options is a firm with a rich history, dating back to 1993, but interestingly, one that is also exceptionally relevant to the technology and infrastructure demands of the modern financial services industry."

Options founder and chief executive Nigel Kneafsey said he was delighted to have recruited someone of Mr Moore's "experience and proven track record."
