Belfast Harbour is to spend £7m on a new facility for cruise ships.

It will be located at Alexandra dock, within walking distance of the Titanic visitor attraction on the County Down side of the lough.

Currently, cruise ships arriving in Belfast berth on the County Antrim side of the docks. Up to 60 ships are expected this year.

The new facility, which will be able to accommodate larger ships, will be operational from next year.

The harbour said it believed this year would be the biggest so far for cruise visits, with around 110,000 visitors expected.
