Peter Robinson cancels Brazil trip over marching season fears

Peter Robinson has cancelled a planned investment trip to Brazil because he is concerned about the potential for a difficult marching season.

The first minister said he thinks it would have been wrong to be away if there were difficulties on the ground.

Mr Robinson and Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness had been invited by Marfrig, the Brazilian parent company of Moy Park.

Mr McGuinness has yet to indicate whether he will still travel.

Sinn Féin sources said the party's emphasis would be on matters to closer to home

Both men visited Marfrig's headquarters in Sao Paulo in March last year.

"I just think things are so serious that to be out of Northern Ireland at this time would be entirely wrong," Mr Robinson said.
