Mourne Mountains: Slieve Donard still bears scars one year after major wildfire
A year ago this weekend, one of the largest wildfires ever seen in Northern Ireland ravaged the Mourne mountains.
Flames destroyed 1.3sq miles (3.5sq km) across Slieve Donard and the neighbouring mountains.
Environmental work to help the landscape recover is continuing, but National Trust rangers have said wildlife habitats that were lost in a matter of days will take many years to recovery fully.
