Eamonn Darren O'Hanlon died after being stabbed on Hill street

A 25-year-old man has been charged with the killing of a man in Gilford, County Down.

Eamonn Darren O'Hanlon was stabbed on Hill Street in the early hours of Saturday.

The 36-year-old later died from his injuries.

The accused is due to appear before Newry Magistrates' Court on Monday charged with murder and possessing an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence.

As is normal procedure all charges are reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service (PPS).

Three people who were arrested earlier over the killing have been released unconditionally.

Police clarified on Sunday that Mr O'Hanlon was from the Gilford area.
