Police investigating the death of a woman in west Belfast at the weekend have arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of murder.

Hollie Thomson, 28, from the Greenan area of the city was found dead on Sunday 11 September.

Police said a post-mortem examination had been carried out and her death was being treated as murder.

They said the man's arrest also related to the supply of a Class A controlled drug.

He is being questioned at Musgrave Police Station in Belfast.

Belfast city councillor Áine McCabe of Sinn Féin, who represents the Andersonstown area, said there was shock in the community following Ms Thomson's death.

"People are wanting to not jump to conclusions and wait and let the police do their job and that's what has to take hold here," she said.

"We have to remember there is a grieving family here and really first and foremost they are at the front of our thoughts."

Police have appealed for information.
